Already a popular destination for cultural tourists during the 18th century, the waterfalls near Tivoli became a motif for many painters. Ender carried this tradition into the 19th century. Inspired by his stay in Italy, he captured in oils the breathtaking beauty of this natural spectacle. Several tiny staffage figures enhance the imposing effect of the cascades.
